DDR5 is engineered for efficient performance that enables you to load, transfer, and download files faster, with less lag time. DDR5 (7200 Mbps) is > 2 times faster than the previous DDR4 (3200 Mbps). Dual 32 bit channels are available that can handle multiple large workloads making it suitable for editing and watching UHD 8K videos at up to 120 fps, online gaming, large animations with 3D rendering, virtual reality applications, AI applications, multi-tab browsing, and more.
Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) is adopted on the DDR5 module to enhance the power integrity (PI) performance providing power where it is absolutely needed. DDR5 also provides stronger signalling capabilities with better channel efficiency.
DDR5 consumes a mere 1.1 V, compared with 1.2V by DDR4. it uses a built-in voltage regulator enabling consistent energy savings. The overall power consumption is reduced by 20%. This is very significant and allows our ever growing needs in data processing to have a more sustainable impact on the environment.
On-die error correction codes (ODECC) together with additional temperature sensors enable enhanced stability features. ODECC allows for self-correction of internal errors, which facilitates data recovery and reduces refresh frequency. This feature improves reliability and allows to denser RAM chips while lowering the defect rate for each RAM chip.
