Brand Ambassador Justin Minns reviews UltimaPro X2 V90 SD Card

Brand Ambassador Justin Minns took a few minutes out of his busy schedule to write a review of the UltimaPro X2 UHS-II V90 SD Card which he has been using since coming on board with Integral around 10 months ago. Here’s what he had to say:

Alright, let’s talk about something we usually don’t give much thought to but is absolutely crucial for any photographer—the humble memory card. Specifically, let’s dive into my experience with the Integral UltimaPro X2 V90 SD card, which has become my go-to choice.

Performance and Speeds

First off, this card is fast. With a read speed of up to 300MB/s and a write speed of up to 280MB/s, it’s perfect for both photographers and videographers. If you’re shooting in 4K or even higher resolutions, you won’t have to worry about the card slowing you down. I tested it alongside a couple of other cards using both my Canon R5 and R7, and the difference was clear. The UltimaPro X2 V90 handled 197 shots before hitting the buffer and took just over 6 seconds to clear it. For comparison, a UHS-I card only managed 72 shots before buffering and took over 14 seconds to clear.

Shots to reach bufferTime to clear buffer
Sandisk Extreme Pro UHS-I  V30 U3 C10              72         14.29 sec
Integral Ultima Pro X2 UHS-II V60 U3 C10             138          7.24 sec
Integral Ultima Pro X2 UHS-II V90 U3 C10             197          6.05 sec

For my workflow, speed is crucial—not just in the camera, but also when transferring files to my computer. Paired with a good card reader, the UltimaPro X2 V90’s high read speed means I spend less time waiting for files to download and more time editing and shooting.

Durability

My work takes me all around the world and I’ve used it in some pretty extreme conditions, from the freezing -15°C of Iceland to the scorching +40°C of Namibia. As a result my kit needs to be tough and I’m glad to say the Integral X2 V90 hasn’t missed a beat. The card’s build is noticeably thicker and more rigid than others I’ve used giving it more durability when switching it out or if I ever forget to put it in its carry case. Plus, it’s rated as shockproof, waterproof, X-ray proof, and temperature resistant. So, it can definitely take a beating without compromising your precious data.

Reliability

Over the ten months I’ve been using it, I’ve taken close to 30,000 images with this card. That’s a mix of serene landscapes and fast-paced wildlife shots. Not once has the card failed me. The casing remains intact, which is more than I can say for some other brands I’ve had to retire due to wear and tear.
