USB Flash Drive (own logo service) »  What is the difference between USB 2.0 & USB 1.1?

USB 1.1

The first version of the USB standard was know as USB or USB 1.1

The transfer rate is a maximum of 12 Mb/sec or 1.5 MB/sec

USB 2.0

Recently a new faster version of the USB standard has been launched called USB 2.0 or Hi-Speed USB.

The transfer rate is 480 Mb/sec or 60 MB/sec, which is 40x faster than USB 1.1. Most current PC’s will have these faster USB Ports available.

USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 are fully compatible with each other so a USB 2.0 device will function at a slower speed in a USB 1.1 device.
